Manufacturing Oriented Design

At Zapidax, we prioritize manufacturability from the very inception of a design concept. As a part of our comprehensive End-to-End Services, we excel in supporting both New Product Introductions (NPI) and product re-engineering for obsolescence management. This is achieved through the application of principles like Design for Supply Chain, Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly, Design for Testability, and Lean Manufacturing within our robust delivery framework. At Zapidax, we term this approach "Manufacturing Oriented Design" (MOD).

Our multidisciplinary teams within the R&D Centre specialize in the design of Electronic circuits, Power supplies, Photonics, Mechanical and Industrial aspects. They possess extensive experience in performing critical component engineering tasks such as BOM Risk Analysis, identifying alternative components, and ensuring ROHS compliance. Additionally, we conduct Reliability Analysis based on Stress testing, MTBF calculations, and more. This comprehensive approach ensures that our clients' designs are not only innovative but also optimized for efficient manufacturing and long-term reliability.

Electronics

The Zapidax electronics team delivers comprehensive design services, spanning from architectural planning to Printed Circuit Board-level customization, tailored to meet specific customer demands. Our team boasts a strong track record in high-speed digital designs, analog and mixed-signal designs, and embedded system development. We support Micro-Controllers/Micro-Processors from top OEMs, including TI, Freescale, Cypress, AVR, Microchip, Xilinx, Lattice, Altera, and more.

For high-speed designs, we conduct rigorous post-layout verification using SI (Signal Integrity) simulation, utilizing industry-standard tools such as Hyperlynx and SPICE. Schematics capturing and PCB layout design are typically accomplished using tools like Orcad, Allegro, Mentor, Altium, Pads, and more. Prototype assembly is seamlessly carried out within our associated manufacturing facilities. In our state-of-the-art testing and measurement laboratory, we employ advanced instruments such as High-speed Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, JTAG Interfaces, Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Field probes, and more.

For Environmental tests, we maintain multiple testing chambers. While we conduct most tests in-house, some specialized tests like EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) and EMC (Electro Magnetic Compatibility) are outsourced to NABL certified external laboratories to ensure the highest quality and compliance standards are met. At Zapidax, our electronics team ensures your designs are executed with precision and adhere to the most rigorous testing and validation procedures.

Power Electronics

The Zapidax Power Electronics Design team unites extensive knowledge in crafting tailor-made power supplies with advanced safety and EMC attributes. Our services encompass new product development, product re-engineering, and regulatory compliance solutions. Presently, our product lineup spans high-efficiency power converters, intelligent battery chargers, control gear, electric vehicle chargers, and renewable energy conversion and management systems, among others. At Zapidax, we're dedicated to providing cutting-edge power electronics solutions with a strong focus on safety and compliance.

Mechanical

Zapidax is equipped with advanced technology for board inspections, including optical and X-ray methods. Our optical inspection, performed by the MIRTEC MV-7XI system with five high-resolution 10-megapixel cameras, scrutinizes solder quality down to 9.8 microns per pixel. Boards up to 510mm by 460mm in size are handled. This system adeptly detects solder issues like lifted pins, cold solder, insufficient solder, solder ball formation, and solder bridging, ensuring adherence to IPC standards.

For concealed soldering defects, especially in dense packages like ball grid arrays (BGA), our Automatic X-Ray inspection is invaluable. The TRI Innovation TR7600 SII system, featuring six cameras, supports PCBs up to 900mm by 460mm. It utilizes a 3D image analysis with intelligent vision systems to pinpoint hidden defects. Industrial Design

The Zapidax team is entrusted with the role of harmonizing form and function. They seamlessly integrate aesthetics with ergonomics and usability, elevating the user-friendliness of the final product while ensuring efficient manufacturability. The process is facilitated by the use of Computer-Aided Design tools.

Our Industrial Design division collaborates closely with the Mechanical Design unit to facilitate and oversee the entire product development cycle. This encompasses the full spectrum, starting from the capture of user requirements, through concept development, engineering, prototyping, and extending to manufacturing support. The delineation of responsibilities between Industrial Design and Mechanical Design is underscored here. Zapidax's Industrial Design Group is fully equipped to provide comprehensive services in this domain.

Photonics

The Zapidax Photonics team is dedicated to advancing components and systems tailored for applications in communication, sensing, imaging, and industry. Within optical communication, our team boasts profound expertise in both passive and active components.

For passive components catering to optical networks, we've engineered innovative products, including fused fiber and PLC-based splitters, attenuators, WDMS, fan-outs based on MT connectors, and more. At the system level, Zapidax excels in Fiber Management solutions, serving FTTH and long-haul optical links with solutions like Fiber Distribution Terminals (FDT) featuring internal rotation spools, Fiber Distribution Hubs (FDH), and High-Density Splitter racks designed for central office applications. Our work in this domain has resulted in several patented innovations.

In the realm of active components, we cover a spectrum of capabilities encompassing high-speed digital transmitters/receivers, transponders, analog transmitters, fiber lasers, optical amplifiers, interferometers, interrogators, dispersion compensators, and more. Moreover, the Photonics team specializes in crafting unique monitoring solutions for fiber optic networks and security applications. We also provide solutions for optical sensing, laser imaging systems, and fly-by-light systems.

One of our groundbreaking achievements is the Zapidax Fibre Sentinel System (FSS) featuring the exclusive WaveSense intrusion prevention technology. FSS offers continuous real-time monitoring of fiber connections, swiftly detecting physical intrusions and promptly eliminating them by deactivating transmission.
